Mount Everest
Everest (Highest in the World)
Climbing Period: April and May
Altitude: 29,035ft / 8850m
Route: South-side (Normal).
The route to the summit of
Mount Everest takes climbers on quite an interesting climb.
Climbers must ascend through the Khumbu Ice Fall, resting
at Camp 1, 5900m (19,357ft), and then continue through
the Western Cwm to Camp 2, 6400m (20,998ft). After
a brief rest at Camp 3, on the Lhotse Face, at 7300m (23,951ft), climbers
will then traverse the face, across the Yellow
Band, and over the Geneva Spur, arriving
at Camp 4 on the South Col. The next phase of the climb is
the summit attempt, which takes climbers
up toward the Balcony, the South Summit and along the Traverse
to the summit of Mount Everest (29,035ft / 8850m).
Meagan sucessfully summitted Mount Everest in May 2007.
